Magnetic field influence on martesite phase transition in Ni2+õMn1-õGa

Magnetic and structural phase transitions in Ni2+õMn1-õGa (0<õ<1) alloys are investigated experimentally. The martensite domains formation under the action of external magnetic field on the surface of polycrystalline Ni2,19Mn0,81Ga specimen was investigated by optical method. The preliminary experimental data obtained, show direct influence of external magnetic field on the martensite domains formation at the transition temperature. It is found that the martensite phase formation temperature is enhanced by the order of 0,3 K in magnetic field of 1 kOe. The effect of controlled transition of the part of the sample into martensite state under the action of magnetic field is demonstrated.
